IMF team's visit to Moldova ended up: We want to be your partners and help you implement the reforms you started
Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) team, headed by Ruben Atoyan, who concluded his visit to Moldova.
The prime minister thanked the experts for constructive discussions and objective attitude, reiterating the importance of the IMF Agreement for the Republic of Moldova.
"I want to assure you that we are an ambitious and determined team but at the same time rational and we will make every effort so that we can find solutions to achieve the undertaken commitments", mentioned Pavel Filip.
Following the assessment of the macroeconomic situation in our country of the financial and banking sector, as well as of the fiscal-fiscal policies, the experts came up with a series of recommendations. In the next period, the authorities will focus their efforts on strengthening banking policies, ensuring economic growth and increasing budget revenues, and adopting the Law on the National Financial Stability Committee.
Also, during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the budget execution for 2018, the budget plans for 2019, and the package of laws addressing capital amnesty, tax reform and business support.
In this context, Ruben Atoyan has appreciated the high level of cooperation with the Chisinau authorities, expressing the conviction that all the common objectives will be achieved.
"We want to be your partners to continue implementing the reforms you have initiated", said Ruben Atoyan.
IMF experts met in the Republic of Moldova between 13 and 20 September to assess fiscal, monetary and budgetary policies. The IMF team will return to our country with an evaluation mission in the first half of 2019.
