Impressive exhibition of folk costumes organized in Chisinau
An exhibition of traditional Moldovan clothes takes place at the Republican Palace now. The collection includes traditional clothes that date since the 19th century from Moldova and Romania.
"These are our traditional suits. Our grandmothers were wearing such dresses."
This woman collects traditional clothes from different corners of Romania.
"I came here from Buzau. The traditional suit is my DNA and the Romanian identity."
Maria Cristea came to present the suits she made.
"This t-shirt is for a young woman, this one is for a married one, while this one is for an old woman", said Maria Cristea, fashion designer.
Monica Babuc, the minister of Culture also came at the event.
"In the past years, the traditional clothes are in fashion. People are interested in this", said Monica Babuc, the minister of Culture.
Daniel Ionita, the Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova also came at the event.
"This year we celebrated 100th anniversary of the Great Union and registered Martisor in the UNESCo cultural heritage. We want to include the traditional T-shirt (Ie) too", mentioned Daniel Ionita, Romanian Ambassador to Republic of Moldova.
Starting 2015, the National Day of the Traditional Suit is celebrated in the last Sunday of June.
