The Easter is nearby and representatives of the National Food Safety Agency went to the Central Store to check the quality of the food paints, which at this time are sold a lot. Specialists are worried that they are sold mostly by street dealers, in the absence of the necessary authorizations, but also by the dubious merchandise they propose.
Thus, people are urged to be very careful about the packaging, lest the industrial paint be squeezed.
"The paint must be mandatory food, it must be packed, the packaging must not be damaged. The mandatory packaging must be all the necessary inscriptions: the composition, the manufacturer, the shelf life or the manufacturer, and the marketing conditions", said Olga Junc, ANSA inspector.
If the paint has an expired expiry date, it may be toxic.
"We can face the picture of food intoxications, headaches, vomiting, trembling, diarrhea, and so on." "If paint was used to paint non-food paint, then we have a heavy metal intoxication painting, but that's dangerous, said Veaceslav Tinica, a hygienist-epidemiologist.
To avoid this, specialists recommend that we return to the traditions of another time and dye the eggs with natural ingredients: red beet, cabbage or onion.
"We put three eggs, we put the cabbage, put two teaspoons of salt, and now we add some red cabbage to the fire."
"It is not an intricate method, but on the contrary it is an interesting method, but it is important that it is a natural, eco method. Methods other than natural ones are toxic", said Sergiu Trestian, chef.
However, most housewives prefer food paint. Some have, however, gone on for a long time to natural methods.
"I paint olives with onions and red beetroot, and ready?"
"Yes, with paint, no, no, because it's poisonous".
"Five kinds of colors: Green, blue, yellow, red".
The price for food paint varies between two to ten lei. Experts say that if it is smaller, it could be a low-grade paint.
