International parachutists join East European Cup in Gagauzia

Parachutists from nine countries came to Moldova for the East European Cup and the Avdarma locality in Gagauzia. In the first two days, athletes have demonstrated their capabilities in the most accurate landing.
Anatolie Liubinschi, aged 79, is the oldest of the participants. Due to his passion, the athlete says he spent 61 years in the clouds.
"This kind of sport is beneficial to health," said paratrooper Anatolie Liubinschi.
Representatives of our country include performance athletes. According to them, in Moldova, this kind of sport is at a high level.
"I recently participated in the World Championship, from 47 countries, Moldova was the 31st place," said Moldovan Paratrooper Federation President Sergei Zincenco.
Athletes from Romania, Turkey, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland and Greece participate in the competition.
"This competition is a very useful. For me it is a training because I am not a professional parachutist," said Balazs Barkoczi, a paratrooper from Hungary.
"The competition is well organized, there are many participants. I came to Moldova for the first time, but I can say it is very good and nice here," said Irene Paczel-Krawcyak, a participant from Poland.
Over 40 athletes are jumping at a height of 1,000 meters. The tournament, held on May 25-27, is organized by local authorities, in collaboration with the Federation of Parachuting.
