International Peace Run to go through Moldova on September 10-15
On September 10 through 15, Moldova will receive the international torch relay race Peace Run, Infotag informs.
According to organizers, the length of the run through the territory of the republic is of 565 km, which will be covered by an international group of runners from Moldova, Austria, France, Great Britain, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus. Anyone may join the runners.
Traditionally, the common start is being given at the UN headquarters in New York. At this ceremony, torches of five continents are lighted up from the big fire. Later, the start of relay is being given at all the continents. Thus, the European part of the run started on February 24 from the Portugal city Portu through 46 countries and will finish in Rome (Italy) on October 8. Moldova is represented by Vladimir Salnicov.
Moldova will receive the burning torch from Ukraine in Otaci, while then the route will go through Soroca (on September 10), Floresti, Ghindesti, Orhei (September 11), Criuleni, Vadul lui Voda, Chisinau (September 12), Dubasari, Grigoriopiol, Tiraspol (September 13), Slobozia, Pervomaisk, Dnestrovsk, Stefan Voda (September 14), Causeni, Cimislia (September 15).
On September 12, the runners will come to Chisinau, where a ceremony of international team meeting will be held at 18:00 near the Steven the Great monument, which will be attended by well-known culture and sports figures.
The Peace Run is the world’s longest relay, in which the torch is being transmitted as a symbol of humanity’s aspirations towards a more harmonious and happy life. Transferring the burning torch from hand to hand, from heart to heart, from city to city, from country to country, participants are spreading the message of friendship and understanding in the whole world.
This year, the Peace Run will go through 100 countries on six continents. The relay is conducted for the 25th time under the slogan “Make the first step!”. Since the moment of creation, over 5 million people participated in it.
