Irregularities in field of taxi services: failure to issue cash vouchers in presence of taxi drivers and activity of illicit carriers
To improve the situation in the field of taxi services and to provide citizens with quality services, a working group has been created, following the indications given earlier this week by the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici.
Within the working group, it was discussed that taxi managers would register all transport units that provide taxi services and operate legally. At the same time, a problem was identified regarding the access to the tax devices - their import and registration in the Republic of Moldova. In this regard, the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure sent a request to the Ministry of Finance asking for the taxi companies to be given access to the toll devices and to facilitate their importation in a larger number, taking into account the needs arising from the obligation to issue travelers cash receipts.
Minister Chiril Gaburici also referred to the amendments to the Road Code, which will come into force on October 1, 2018, according to which companies that provide online services and now provide unfair competition on the market will be obliged to activate after the same rules.
"We understand that the reforms need time to function. We are aware that the representatives of the taxi companies will be receptive and will adapt to the new regulations, encouraging the carriers to operate legally with home appliances, I repeat, the situation is a proof of the problems there is a problem with the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, and we have the support of the Ministry of Finance in facilitating the importation of tax devices, so that in the shortest time we can have as many transport units equipped with tolling machines and citizens have access to operative and quality services", said Chiril Gaburici.
At the same time, the minister also referred to the tax evasion irregularities, including the lack of charging devices, the non-clearance of travelers' vouchers, although the cars are equipped with taxi drivers, the activity of illicit carriers unauthorized by the competent institutions.
Problems in the field have arisen with the intensification of the control actions undertaken by the National Auto Transport Agency, the State Tax Service and the National Patrolled Inspectorate. As a result, the number of taxi drivers and transport units has been reduced. Earlier this week, the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure convened the Taxi Carrier Association to discuss the situation and identify concrete solutions.
