The decision of PAS leader, Maia Sandu, to support the candidacy of godson of fugitive Victor Țopa, Andrei Năstase to run for Mayor of Chisinau is a childish gesture, lacking whatsoever political reasoning.

Columnist Iulian Chifu wrote for deschide.md that Năstase is the most unpleasant and controversial candidate of the pro-European opposition.

Moreover, Chifu believes that Maia Sandu would have had more chances at winning the elections that Țopa's godson, but she did not run for Mayor, as Năstase stole her start. Now, leader of DA party is asking the same people with whom he protested on the streets, whom he cursed and made fun of to vote for him.

Iulian Chifu questions how Maia Sandu expects to be supported by other parties, if she refused to even speak of forwarding a single candidate.

The columnist claims that most of the far-right candidates who decide to run for Mayor have already lost and are simply fighting for 3rd place.
