Iurie Leanca at Fabrika: Moldova has a prospect of joining European Union and can apply for membership

Moldova has a prospect of joining the European Union and can apply to become a member of the community bloc as long as we demonstrate that we want it and the reforms will continue. But this is less desirable for extra-parliamentarians. They are only able to come up with criticism both internally and externally. This view is made by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Iurie Leanca, invited to the Fabrika show.
"In Mr. Nastase's speech, I see much bigger problems starting with the handkerchief and we are not interested in the European integration and after that the great unionist. Which makes me think he does not have much fundamental and values but is an opportunistic game just like Comrade Dodon. "I do not see much difference and for this reason I will not wonder if these two extremes would make a junction eventually after the elections", said Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.
The official said our country's relationship with the EU is not at the happiest stage. Still, after the election, things could change for the better, Leanca thinks.
"We have other solutions than to embrace this reform path on the inside and thus to advance on the path to EU integration and I hope that after the elections we will have a pro-European, pro-occidental majority and we will return to that natural dialogue", said Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.
According to Deputy Prime Minister, taking over the presidency of Romania by the European Council is an opportunity for Moldova.
"All the discussions we have had this year with the foreign ministry, with the presidency, with the Romanian Parliament, make me confident that our friends in Bucharest will keep the interest for the region and for Moldova in particular. we as soon as we can create a majority, articulate our goals", said Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.
Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca also claims that maintaining close working relations with the United States, especially in the context of the tense situation in the region, is vital.
"Even if we are a pro-European country like Ukraine, with particular problems for the European continent, it is absolutely clear that without the involvement of America it is difficult to assure a balance of force here, it is difficult to re-create prerequisites for a regional security architecture", said Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration.
