Iurie Leanca: Slap that PLDM and PL gave to European Integration will be harshly charged by citizens
The slap that PLDM and PL gave to European integration today will be harshly charged by citizens. The statement was made by Iurie Leanca, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, President of the Popular European Party of Moldova.
"Because of the pride and frustration of some small leaders, we have lost a huge chance of ensuring the irreversibility of our European way. They came up with so many 'arguments' to excuse that they forgot that only our European path, worthwhile enshrined in the Constitution, can lead us to the realization of those ideals and values we believe together", said Iurie Leanca.
At the same time, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration said that: "PPEM became more committed today than ever to defend and promote the European way of the Republic of Moldova. No socialist, communist, liberal or liberal-democrat should have the chance to opposes European integration".
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that Liberal Democrats, Socialists and Communists opposed the introduction of the European vector into the Constitution. Only 54 MPs from the factions of the Democratic Party and the European People's Party voted in favor of the project.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said he was particularly disappointed by the gesture of the 13 Liberal and Liberal Democratic MPs, stating that they had turned the back of the European Union, and voters must take this into account.
Before today's meeting, Candu said that if the pro-European amendment to the Constitution is not introduced, the DPM thinks to organize a referendum on the subject. The plebiscite may take place on the same day as parliamentary elections next year.
