James Pettit about the future general elections: Creation of a pro-European coalition will be inevitable
United States Ambassador to Moldova James Pettit believes that after the general elections from this autumn, the creation of a pro-European coalition will be inevitable. The declarations were made on "Moldova în direct" TV show.
"Every democratic parliament needs a coalition. A single party cannot have much influence without the help or support of other parties that follow a similar aim. I know that PD is a key player at the moment, but we will see how it will be after the general elections" James Pettit mentioned.
The official also spoke of the mayoral elections from Chisinau that took place last Sunday. Pettit claims that the elections took place legally, while U.S. believes that citizens of Moldova wish to be as close as possible to the European Union.
"It is the wish of most people for Moldova to continue its European track. I hope this is the reason behind those results. The elections took place more or less legally" United States Ambassador to Moldova said.
President of PPDA, Andrei Năstase, won against socialist Ion Ceban in the second round. Năstase was chosen by 52.57% of the voters.
