K9s of the State Protection Service participated at the 2018 Biatlon Championship
20 K9s, border officers and the representative of the State Protection Service participated at the Biatlon 2018 championship. The participants had to go through 9 kilometers of swamp to catch a fake felon. The championship took place in Zgarancea village, Ungheni district.
The participants had 12 stages to pass. For the first one, they should have staied in a square while their owners were throwing a ball in a basket.
The shoot from the gun stage did not miss. But, the most complicated stage was to swim through a swamp.
At the end of the competition, the dogs should have caught a fake felon.
It was for the first time when at the championship participated a woman.
"It was very good, but I can't swim. At the beginning, the dog didn't want to swim, but followed his owner", said Marina Merticaru, participant.
The participants were pleased about the results.
"My god felt very good, he likes to run", said Andrei Merticanu.
"It is very simple if you are well prepared", said Tudor Pascari, cynologist.
The winners received diplomas and awards.
"The K9s are very important for the border control", said Andrei Teut, the chief of the cynologist center.
