Young professionals working in the budget sector in the northern town of Soroca, large families and disabled have got their keys from social apartments.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip attended the opening ceremony and stated: “These apartments mean a chance to a better life for just as many families from Soroca, including young families. The Government I lead wants to support the young Moldovans, to encourage them to stay here and make families. We also want to help the ones living in precarious conditions to move to decent conditions."

Regional development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bîtca has stated: "The project cost is EUR 2.2 mn, 65 % being offered by the development Bank of the Council of Europe, 35% being the contribution of the local public authorities. We have managed to build social dwellings in the towns of Călărași, Briceni, Sîngerei, Hîncești, 171 apartments all in all. Other 280 social apartments are built in Nisporeni, Ialoveni, Leova, as similar works will start in Fălești, Rezina and Glodeni."

700 social dwellings are to be built by the end of 2018.

The CoE Bank is willing to start negotiating the third stage of this project.
