Today is the last day when people can submit their income declarations for 2017. State Fiscal Services is offering citizens a last chance, having prolonged the deadline to May 2, 19:00 local time.
Those who have yet to submit their declarations claim that it was left to the very last day because they didn't have time, or didn't know how to fill out the declaration.
According to representatives of the territorial office from Chisinau, over the past few days, close to 300 people submitted their income declarations, compared to 50 in the first few days.
"Lately, the number of people who came to submit their declarations increased" representative Dan Suruceanu said.
According to the law, citizens who need to submit the declarations are those who were employed in two or more workplaces throughout the year and gained a salary amounting more than 31 000 lei per year.
At the same time, data has to be submitted by people who sold real estate worth more than 10 000 lei.
"People who will not submit their income declaration risks a fine of 1 000 lei. People who submit it later will have to pay 200 lei, while those who submit fake data will also be fined with 1 000 lei" State Fiscal Services spokesman said.
Last year, close to 190 000 citizens have submitted their declarations, form the 1.2 million.
