A lawyer from Chisinau was arrested by Anticorruption Prosecutors and NAC, being charged with influence peddling. According to prosecutors, between October-December 2016, the lawyer demanded and gained from a suspect 5 000 Euro.

The money were successfully extorted the closer the date of the court hearing got, the lawyer promising in exchange to influence the court to take a favorable decision, in a case of robbery and hooliganism.

Still, Chisinau Court of Appeal sentenced the suspect to 8 years and 6 months, while the lawyer continued to promise that for another 6 600 Euro, she can influence the judges from the Supreme Court of Justice and rid him of the punishment.

The lawyer was arrested yesterday for 72 hours while receiving 5 000 USD. 

If found guilty, she risks a fine to 300 000 lei or to spend the next 3 to 7 years behind bars.
