Lung transplant in Romania. Surgery performed by Moldovan doctor Igor Tudorache

A Moldovan surgeon has performed the second lung transplant from Romania. Igor Tudorache is the head of the Pulmonary Transplant Team in Hanover, Germany.
The medical intervention took place last night, at St Mary's Hospital from Bucharest.
According to the press, the 47-year-old patient is in the intensive care unit and has a good post-operative development, but it will yet be seen if the new organ will not be rejected.
The first lung transplant from Romania took place on April 18.

"I feel great and believe to be progress well. Of course I am weak, but everyone is after surgery. I am happy that they succeeded. Feeling reborn, I was given a second chance at life" the patient said.
After the first surgery, doctor Igor Tudorache promised to director of St Mary's Hospital from Bucharest that he will assist the surgeons in setting the basis for lung transplant in Romania.
