Maia Sandu to Igor Dodon, Ion Chicu: Moldova becomes a country of low incomes and rising cost
Maia Sandu calls President Igor Dodon and PM Ion Chicu to account for the fact that Moldova has become a country of low incomes and high cost of living. In a press briefing, the chairwoman of the PAS listed the ten questions from citizens for the leadership of the country.
"It is time to ask this Government, the Dodon Government, what it has done in the ten months since it has been in office to fight smuggling, to fight corruption schemes and to use this money for the needs of the people." said Maia Sandu.
In reply, the Presidency urges the opposition to come up with solutions, not only with accusations. The Government representatives describe Maia Sandu's statements as demagogues and lies.
According to Maia Sandu, citizens are perplexed why the prices for diesel, medicines, food are much higher than in other countries.
"Why do Moldovans pay 5 lei per cubic meter of gas, while Georgians and Ukrainians pay much less? Why, after 6 months since the pandemic broke out, a mask in Moldova's still ten times higher than it was before the pandemic? These are some of the people's questions for cowardly leadership." added Maia Sandu.
The adviser of PM Ion Chicu, Boris Harea, declared for Publika TV that the statements of the PAS leader are strange. Because Sandu did not oppose the increase of electricity tariffs in August 2019 but becomes concerned about prices now in Moldova. Harea says that prices did not decrease during the government led by Maia Sandu.
At the same time, the spokesperson of the Presidency, Carmena Sterpu, told us that it is common for the current opposition to have only questions, but not solutions.
