Many of the Orthodox Christians are celebrating today Christmas Eve in old style, the festival commemorating the birth of Jesus. Religious services are held in churches and, after visiting the holy places – parishioners celebrate together with their families.

Due to a decision made more than 400 years ago, not all Christians observe the holiday on December 25. Almost 12 percent of the world’s Christians wait until January to celebrate.
