Mayor of Taraclia has announced his resignation, after many children received food poisoning at a local summer camp.

On social media, the official declared that he was sorry for the created situation and that he is taking responsibility.

At the end of last week, 33 children that were spending their time in a summer camp were hospitalized with fever, sickness and diarrhea. Investigations made by the Ministry of Health revealed that the poisoning was caused by non-compliance with hygienic requirements in the institution's canteen.

Moreover, the summer camp was reopened without the medical authorization, and the staff was admitted in the absence of a medical examination.
