The Metropolis of Moldova has its own version of the Dereneu scandal. According to Metropolitan Vladimir, priest Marin Florin left the church, because of some money he refuses to return to some businessmen.

"After he was judged by the Ungheni eparhial Judge, he adhered to the Metropolis of Bessarabia. Unfortunately, he involved the residents of the village and the local authorities in this conflict", mentioned Metropolitan Vladimir.

Moldovan Metropolitan says that the priest had he right to contest the decision of the Diocese's decision.

Marin Florin says that the Vladimir's declarations are unfounded.

"I didn't breach any laws. I didn't borrow any money", said the pastor of Dereneu village, Calarasi district.

The scandal of the Dereneu church stated in March. A group of people broke into the church and changed the lock.

Father Marin Florin lost access to the building and therefore, on Sunday morning asked the people to follow him into an annexed building.
