Migration issue within Eastern Partnership countries to be discussed in Minsk
The Eastern Partnership panel meeting on migration strategies will be held on 7-8 December in Belarusian capital Minsk. Participants from EU Member States and EaP countries will discuss migration strategy and share national best practices, experiences and lessons learnt.
The meeting is being organised by Belarus and Lithuania with support from the European Commission and the Mission of the International Organisation for Migration in Ukraine.
The agenda will cover discussion of preconditions and rationale for adopting or updating national and regional strategies, requirements to the quality of the document and other important aspects of the drafting process.
As well as strategy drafting, participants will learn how to embrace obstacles including absence of political will and how to create action plans for the strategy’s implementation. The best practice session will include success stories in legislative and administrative changes introduced as the result of the adoption of migration strategies.
