Mihai Ghimpu is the guilty one for PL results on February 24 elections. The honor president of the party declared that naming Doring Chirtoaca the new PL president was a bad decision.

"First of all, I said that I was wrong. We should not have done this change. In politics, the changes should only be done in a favorable time. Thus, I should have remained the president of PL", mentioned Mihai Ghimpu.

Also, Mihai Ghimpu recognized that the Liberal Party lost time because of the negotiations that they had with PAS and PPDA to align. He declared that they will not make the same mistake for the local elections.

"-Is PL going to participate at the local elections or they are going to align with ACUM?
-I was against this idea. We will run independent for the local elections", said Ghimpu.

At the February 24 elections, PL didn't pass the 7% threshold. The party took only 1,25% of the votes in comparison with 9,67% at the parliamentary elections that took place in 2014, when they had 13 seats in the Parliament.

Mihai Ghimpu, the honor president of the party didn't involve in this election.
