Modern equipment for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and oncological diseases will reach Moldova in a few months. The announcement was made by Health Minister Svetlana Cebotari, who participated at the Congress of Radiology and Medical Imaging in Chisinau. She said that 17 million lei were allocated for the purchase of the appliances. Among the honorable invitations of the event was the Professor Abass Alavi of the University of Pennsylvania, the USA, nominated a few years ago for the Nobel Prize. He came to Moldova to share his imaging experience.
"This is a real revolution in medicine, because without imaging technologies we can not apply modern medicine. I would advise you to invite in this field young specialists who will be trained at a high level and will be well motivated to learn these technologies, "said Abass Alavi, a professor at Pennsylvania University.
The method for early diagnosis of tumors, discovered by Abass Alavi, will soon be applicable in Moldova.
"Professor Alavi is well-known for his pioneering work in the development and introduction of positron emission tomography. The Health Minister maintains the authorities are concerned about the development of medical imaging for the rapid diagnosis of maladies.
"These technologies in the near future will ensure both the specialized institution of the Oncological Institute and the Institute of Phthisiopneumology, as well as through mobile clinics will be developed their activities in the territory, aiming at the early diagnosis of several maladies", declared Health Minister Svetlana Cebotari.
