Minister Tudor Ulianovschi discussed problems of Moldovan-British relations with officials from MEA of United Kingdom

The progress made in the bilateral dialogue between the Republic of Moldova and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, ways to boost it in various areas including regional security, countering cyber attacks, good governance and facilitating travel in the UK were discussed by the Minister for Business Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, with Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth of London, Martin Harris.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the bilateral relations, noting that an important step in their deepening and their synchronization with the new circumstances, which will form after Brexit. It was on the visit of Minister Tudor Ulianovschi to London in June 2018, where the discussed subjects was about the political dialogue and commercial-economic relations between two states. According to Martin Harris, Moldovan-British relations are an efficient partnership of cooperation at all dimensions, in this context thanks were expressed to the Republic of Moldova for the solidarity it showed in the case of the chemical agent attack in Salisbury in March 2018.
Referring to the latest geopolitical and security developments in the world and region, Tudor Ulianovschi and Martin Harris reiterated their states' positions on condemning such acts, threatening international security and a serious violation of international law. At the same time, the hybrid character of the threats facing our societies and the imperative need to cooperate bilaterally, regionally and internationally to counteract them was highlighted. In this respect, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi welcomed the appointment of a British military attache in the Republic of Moldova.
Speaking about Britain's future relationship with the European Union, Martin Harris affirmed the Moldovan authorities' support for the European integration process, stating that the UK does not want to see our country "in a way other than the one of European integration ". In the context, the British official stressed the importance of democratic and economic development of our country and the strengthening of defense capabilities, reiterating the UK's willingness to offer all Moldovan assistance through the Good Governance Fund.
The two officials also addressed the challenges faced by citizens of the Republic of Moldova in obtaining travel visas to the UK. In the context of information published in the media on the re-adhesion of the UK to the international agreement on public procurement and the reluctant position of the Republic of Moldova in this sense, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi reiterated the interest of our country to simplify the access of Moldovan citizens and economic operators to the public procurement market in the UK, the visa process being very complicated to this. Director Martin Harris assured the Chisinau authorities of the availability of the British Ministry of the Interior to examine the problems faced by citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the process of obtaining visas in order to identify solutions that will improve the existing procedures.
