Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure participated at Ministerial Meeting of Eastern Partnership regarding the Digital Economy
The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Eastern Partnership on the Digital Economy that took place today in Bucharest. The event was hosted by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and co-chaired by the European Commission.
The EU Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Commission have undertaken to implement the 20 Eastern Partnership objectives by 2020, which were endorsed at the Eastern Partnership Summit in 2017.
The Ministerial Meeting on the Digital Economy was held with the participation of the Information and Communication Technology Ministers of the EU member states and the Eastern Partnership (28+6). The event discussed developments in the field, development directions for the immediate outlook and the areas in which the participating countries will assume deep cooperation.
The Republic of Moldova was represented at the event by Vitalie Tarlev, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, in the field of information and communication technology. Vitalie Tarlev spoke about the current achievements in the field of digital economy and society, and about the cooperation in this field with the Eastern Partnership and the European Union.
The talks at the Ministerial Meeting ended with the approval by the Eastern Partnership and European Union Governments of the Joint Statement, which aims to send the right political signal for enhanced digital cooperation between EU countries and the Eastern Partnership.
