Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will hold public debates on school uniforms
PDM spokesman, Vitalie Gămurari declared that Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will hold consultations with parents regarding school uniforms in educational institutions.
"To not create a confusion with the concept that existed during the Soviet Union. The Ministry will hold in the near future public debates with parents and pupils to see the real situation" Gămurari said.
At the same time, PDM spokesman also declared that if the idea of school uniforms will be supported, then Ministry of Education, Culture and Research will request the Government to support children from vulnerable families.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that despite school uniform not begin compulsory in Republic of Moldova, the administration of multiple institutions decided that pupils must wear similar clothes.
According to the data, 87% of the questioned people believe that school uniform will reduce the effects of a child's background and will help maintaining discipline (85%).
Another 71% of those who took part in the survey claim that each school must have a uniform, while 94% believe that uniforms must be offered by the state to families with small income.
On another hand, 35% of those questioned claim that a school uniform might affect the personality, development and freedom of expression of children.
The study was conducted between November 27 - December 7 2017, on a sample of 1 101 people from 74 localities in the country.
