Ministry of Health: Epilepsy patients will receive free treatment
In 2017 epilepsy patients will receive free treatment throughout the year. Ministry of Health approved a new regulation, under which the cost of Levetiracetam medicine used to prevent seizures shall be provided by the institution.
From the medicine will benefit all 24 patients who are registered with specialists.
The cost of treatment for a patient starts from 8,000 lei and reaches 25,000 lei, depending on the severity of the disease.
The Ministry of Health will allocate in this regard about 360,000 lei.
Until now, people with epilepsy were receiving the drug partly compensated on the basis of an application to the Ministry of Health. Patients will be able to pick up the medicines since January 1 2017, from the Institute of Emergency Medicine.
