Miracle workers in Moldova! Doctors manged to sew back the finger of an 11-year-old girl
Doctors from the Emergency Hospital managed to sew back the finger of a 11-year-old girl from Chisinau. Surgeons have worked nearly seven hours, having reconnected each tissue, blood vessels, tendons and nerves.
"It was horrible I don't know what I would have done without my finger."
Ana Malacilî claims to have injured the finger on Friday, while going to training.
"I was walking in the park on some steps. I was jogging and then stumbled. The finger got caught in something and I didn't even feel the loss at first. I didn't feel the pain, perhaps I was in shock after I saw what happened" patient Ana Malacilî said.
Passersby assisted the girl and called an ambulance. On the second day, she was transferred to the Emergency Medicine Institute, where a team of doctors, led by surgeon Anatolie Calistru have performed a complex surgery.
"The skin was the only thing keeping the finger together. At the surgery, the bone had to be fixed, while the blood vessels, tendons and nerves had to be carefully sewed under a microscope" Chief of Surgery Anatolie Calistru said.
The young girl's parents are grateful to the doctors for making a miracle happen.
"The surgeon has done the impossible. We didn't know how the operation will end, if the finger could even be saved. I am very happy" patient's Father, Alexei Malacilî said.
The young girl will remain at the hospital for another week for observation.
