Moldova Agroindbank sold 41% of its stakes to an international consortium
Moldova Agroindbank sold 41% of its stakes to the state, through the Public Property Agency. Later, the stakes will be purchased by international investors - EBRD, Invalda INVL, Horizon Capital. The Stake Purchase Agreement was signed on Friday at the Government.
According to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, by signing this agreement the process of transparency and consolidation of the banking sector from Republic of Moldova is completed.
"The state signed an important agreement with an international consortium, made out of EBRD, Invalda INVL and Horizon Capital, regarding the acquisition of around 40% of the stakes of Moldova Agroindbank. We intend to bring the process of transparency and consolidation to the end. I believe in our banking sector's sustainability and that today's event will have a positive impact upon the national economy. With big stakeholders, banks from Moldova must retake their function as financial intermediaries. It means that they must offer loans to support the economy's modernization and growth, new projects and investments, creating new jobs and people's welfare. This is our aim" Minister Chiril Gaburici said.
