The impetus for Moldovan-Italian bilateral economic cooperation has been the subject of today's discussion of the Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, with the Ambassador of Italy to Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti.
The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure said that the economic cooperation between our countries is on the rise lately, underlining that Italy is one of the most important economic partners of the Republic of Moldova, as well as among the top 5 investors.
"The expansion and further development of business dialogue in both countries and the intensification of bilateral relations with foreign partners are one of the priorities of the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure both to facilitate the activity of investors in our country and to promote the implementation of economic reforms, noted Chiril Gaburici.
Ambassador of Italy thanked for the collaboration between the countries, emphasizing the intention to actively promote the opportunities offered by the Republic of Moldova among the investors.
In this sense, Valeria Biagiotti invited Chiril Gaburici to attend the annual Economic Quorum, which will be held in autumn 2018, in Chisinau. The Forum is a platform to help attract potential investors and promote sustainable partnerships at international level.
The talks addressed the issue of Italian companies in the field of national road infrastructure. Due to the non-execution of the bonds by some Italian contractors, contracts with several companies involved in road rehabilitation have been terminated. Thus, both sides agreed to identify solutions according to the legislation in force, so that investors benefit from a favorable investment environment. At the same time, the progress made by other Italian companies in the execution of the rehabilitation constructions of some sections of roads in the Republic of Moldova was discussed.
According to official information, 1385 businesses with Italian Capital worth about 1.7 billion lei are active in the Republic of Moldova. The volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova with the Republic of Italy in January-November 2017 was about 567.23 million USD, an increase of 18.52% compared to 2016.
