Moldova made a request to COVAX platform for COVID-19 vaccine
The Republic of Moldova has made a request to the COVAX platform for the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, the target groups were prioritized according to the recommendations of the Strategic Advisory Group of Immunization Experts.
Thus, based on the fact that the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations, through the COVAX platform ensures coverage of 20% of the country's population free of charge, the following target groups have been identified: medical workers; adults over 65 years of age and comorbidities (high risk group); beneficiaries of temporary or long-term placement centers; people with comorbidities; social workers; workers in the field of education and those in security bodies.
Subsequently, depending on the availability of the vaccine, other groups of the population will be vaccinated, which are equally extremely important to protect.
The Republic of Moldova joined COVAX in August 2020, through the letter of intent signed by MSMPS. All participating countries, including the Republic of Moldova, regardless of income levels, will have equal access to these vaccines once they are developed.
