The Parliament has passed a law making May 9 – Europe Day – an official holiday.

Some Socialists MPs expressed doubts that one would try to replace the Victory Day, which is also on May 9.

But Parliament President Andrian Candu rejected such fears: "The proposal is not to replace the Victory Day, it’s about to add a new day-off on May 9. Please to not lead into error the colleagues and the public."
