Moldova registered progresses after implementing Deep and Comprehensive Trade Agreement
Republic of Moldova is progressing in the implementation of the provisions of the Moldova - European Union Association Agreement which is aimed at the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA). The Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure participated at the meeting of the ad-hoc Working Group for Association Agreement of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly, where it presented the achievements of our country within three years. The meeting took place in Tbilisi, Georgia, and gathered representatives from the Republic of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine.
Thus, the Republic of Moldova succeeded in achieving a number of reforms in the economic field, such as the implementation of the Single Window, launched in June 2017, which reduced the administrative costs to 46% (about 62 million lei annually) reducing permissive acts from 413 to 150, reducing institutions with control functions from 70 to 18, including 5 independent regulators.
Also, during the last years there is a tendency to reorient Moldovan exports from east to west. At the present moment, the European Union holds the primacy in the foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova. In 2017, goods exports to EU countries accounted for 63.7% of total exports, more than 1.300 Moldovan companies, accounting for about 60% of total exports to the EU. At the same time, 28 EU Member States invest in the national economy.
Other achievements include the creation of the first IT park - "Moldova IT Park", the launch of the single national 112 emergency call service, the implementation of the automated information management system and the issuance of permissive documents, etc.
The meeting discussed the institutional procedures, mechanisms and capacities for implementing the Association Agreement in Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as the aspects of the process of harmonizing the legislation with the acquis communautaire in the three countries.
On June 27, 2014, the European Union and Republic of Moldova signed the Association Agreement and applied it with promissory title on September 1, 2014. The agreement introduces a preferential trade regime- Deep and Comprehensive Trade Area.
