Moldova signs labor social security accord with Germany
The Moldovans working or having worked in Germany will get pensions from the Berlin government.
The deputy Labor Minister, Viorica Dumbrăveanu, and the state secretary of the German Labor Ministry, Thorben Albrecht, have signed an accord on social security.
It provides social guarantees to Moldovan migrant workers. These Moldovans will get noy only retirement pensions, but also hair pensions and disability pensions.
They will also get subsidies in case of labor accidents, as their family will get insurance in case of death of bread-winner.
"This accord has a double importance, we create protection to our citizens contributing to Germany’s welfare, and we create favorable conditions for Moldovan migrants to return home: when retiring, they will be able to receive German pensions in Moldova," said Viorica Dumbrăveanu.
"I hope the beneficial effects of the accord will be felt immediately after both states end enacting procedures,” said Thorben Albrecht.
Moldova has signed social security accords with 11 states: Romania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Luxemburg, Austria, Estonia, Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Belgium and Lithuania, and is holding talks in this regard with Latvia, Turkey, Israel, Italy and Russia.
