Republic of Moldova must continue European path and receive EU pre-accession funds, said by Iurie Leancă, the leader of European People's Party of Moldova (PPEM). He's also a candidate for European Parliament elections on pro-Romania party's list.
"Not only European path but also pre-accession funds will we insist on. Otherwise, I'm assured that Romania - Moldova trade deficit will increase", said Leancă.
Iurie Leancă was proposed on pro-Romania list by former Romanian PM Victor Ponta. The Romanian politician believes PPEM leader will represent successfully Moldovan people in European Parliament.
According to Corina Creţu, incumbent European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Moldova's European path is a merit-based process which will bear fruit and "Moldova will hopefully advance this path. Moldovan people's well-being will be improved".
The next elections to the European Parliament are expected to be held between 23 and 26 May 2019. A total of 751 Members of the European Parliament currently represent more than 512 million people from 28 member states.
