Moldova tested 5G technology for the first time
The 5G technology was tested for the first time in Republic of Moldova. Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Chiril Gaburici, also attended the event.
The Orange Group's 5G strategy is based on three components: high bandwidth improvement, high-speed fixed network access and new applications to support digital business transformation.
By 2020, tests targeting these three areas will offer 5G for both consumers and business customers.
According to Chiril Gaburici, the IT sector is growing rapidly and the Republic of Moldova with IT Park has offered IT companies outstanding conditions. In this regard, the Government has taken important steps to fully capitalize on the main IT competitiveness factors.
"I firmly believe that there must be cooperation, sufficient arguments and a strong motivation from the Government so that operators will continue to invest in our country. Moldova could serve as a test country for performing technologies which encourages operators to invest and develop in Republic of Moldova", said Minister Chiril Gaburici.
5G (from "5th Generation") is the latest generation of cellular mobile communications. It succeeds the 4G (LTE-A, WiMax), 3G (UMTS, LTE) and 2G (GSM) systems. New technology will increase data transfer speed and improve response time.
