Moldova, Turkey mark 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations
Celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey, on 3 February 2017 Moldovan and Turkish Foreign Ministers Andrei Galbur and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu exchanged congratulatory messages, Moldpres reports.
Galbur noted that the 25 years of cooperation between both states had experienced excellent development. He pointed out that during the period, a string of major events had been held having a beneficial impact on friendship relations between Moldova and Turkey. The official thanked for technical and financial assistance to Moldova, including Gagauzia via the Turkish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (TIKA). Also, he thanked for the open dialogue held with the Turkish counterpart during his visit to Turkey, noting that it would open the way for more initiatives to set up a strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that during 25 years, the relations between Moldova and Turkey had been on the rise in all the fields. Also, he noted that Moldova was a special partner and a very close neighbor of Turkey, emphasizing that the Gagauz people were a bridge of friendship between the two states. At the same time, the official referred to organization in 2017 of more events dedicated to this anniversary, among which he highlighted the visit to Moldova by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, events that will contribute to boosting relations between the countries.
Celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Moldova and Turkey, Chisinau hosted official launch of the stamp, seal and envelope issued on this occasion by Moldovan Post Office.
Also, the exchange of congratulatory messages was carried out by President Igor Dodon and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip and Turkish Premier Binali Yildirim, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and Turkish Speaker İsmail Kahraman.
Moldova established diplomatic relations with Turkey on 3 February 1992.
