Moldova underway to carry out new water supply concept for all citizens
Moldova authorities are underway to elaborate a new concept of supplying residents quality water.
According to representative of Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), its specialists have advocated for more efficient organization of money distribution and work planning upon constructing aqueduct networks.
"That concept is necessary to ensure water supply for citizens. We're moving to build central aqueduct networks which link water from Nistru or Prut to more localities", said Igor Malai, Chief of MADRM Regional Development Policy Department on a Publika show In the Spotlight.
Mr Igor Malai also spoke on the first examples of new approaches in aqueduct network building such as works implemented in Cahul, Leova and Floreşti.
Ministry pledges to carry out ambitious plans to connect annually aqueduct networks to at least 100,000 people. At present, only around 55% of Moldova population have access to water.
"We're at the stage to elaborate technical documenting for 18 projects. We're moving to set off construction this year", said Igor Malai.
Pavel Codreanu, Head of commune Ruseştii Noi, Ialoveni district also declared that his citizens benefit from water supply project.
"This project will be finished in over 2 or 3 months in our village. It's regional project. Aqueduct will be built in other localities which ensure pure quality water supply. There were only 15% of locals had access to water 8 years ago. At present, that number amounts to 80%", said Pavel Codreanu.
The construction of over 540 km of aqueduct in the next five years and guarantee of water supply in all country's localities are parts of initiatives by PDM President Vlad Plahotniuc.
According to MADRM, the allocated budget is €150M including €77M provided by external budget.
