Moldovan carpets, listed as UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, are preserved and promoted further on
Moldovan carpets were exhibited in a festival held in Mihăileni village in Râşcani district. Dozens craftsmen in the north of our country demonstrated the real arts and really impressed the visitors.
Folk assemblies in this zone warmed up the event atmosphere.
Ludmila Scutaru learned from her grandmother how to weave the carpet at the age of seven.
"It cost from 1,000 lei till 15 - 18,000 lei. More buyers are foreigners coming from Estonia, France in instance", said Ludmila Scutaru.
The craftsmen also said that this festival is a good opportunity to promote our carpet.
"We are here to show them how we work. This is what I have done since my childhood.", said a craftsman.
Visitors admired the impressive carpets.
"Extraordinary beautiful!", said a visitor.
"I'm proud that our people still preserve this tradition and I hope that our children will follow our footsteps", said another visitor.
According to organizer, festival gradually attracts more and more craftsmen and visitors from other corners of the world.
"People come to enjoy a traditional song or admire national costumes or ancient carpets from 14th century", said representative of event administration.
Moldovan Carpet Festival marks its fifth edition. Moldovan carpets, registered by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, is a crucial element which is preserved and promoted further on.
