Over 80 % of the leather footwear and accessories from Moldova are exported. According to the export promoting agency MIEPO, the biggest importers of Moldovan shoes are Romania, Italy and Belarus. 

The exports of footwear grew 23% in 2016, year over year, the deliveries amounting to EUR26 mn.

MIEPO explains the rise by the fact that Moldovan leather processors execute a growing number of orders from overseas big brands.
