Moldovan fruits exported in UAE. In 2018 export raised by 4,5%
The statistics show that the fruits expert to the United Arab Emirates increased by 12 million USD, which is 4 times more than in 2017 and 15 times more than one year ago. The most popular are the apples. Over 30 tones of apples have been sold.
One of the farmers who exported apples to UAE is Ion Tules from Olanesti village, Stefan Voda district. He sold 18 tones of apples.
"We sold the apples that you see in this box", said Ion Tulei, farmer from Olanesti village, Stefan Voda district.
The farmer plans to pant 10 more hectares of apple trees.
"There are a lot of clones. It is important to export fruits of a good quality", said Ion Tulei.
According to the farmer, the pack is very important for the UAE market, especially when the delivery period is more than one month. This year, the farmer made a special packing. One box costs 40 lei.
"This is a traditional box for us. When we transport the apples by the sea the costs are higher, cause the humidity is high and we need a special packing."
According to Iurie Fala, the President of the Fruits Manufactures and Selling Association, the Moldovan grapes are also requested by the UAE market and so are the plums.
"It is an important market. We export not only to UAE, but also to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. We also can export cherries, but only by plane", said Iurie Fala, APEFM president.
