After prosecutors insisted, a mercenary was sentenced to jail time, after he previously received a lighter punishment.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that last autumn, Chisinau Prosecutor's Office along with Information and Security Service have identified and arrested a citizen of Republic of Moldova, who was suspected of being a mercenary (article 141 Penal Code).
He proved to be a 45-year-old resident of the Capital and was accused of working as a mercenary during June 2015 - March 2017 for “First Slavic Brigade”, from Donetsk, Ukraine.
The Court from Chisinau has sentenced the accused, who confessed, on 3 November 2017 to 3 years of imprisonment, with suspension, being released on bail.
Considering the sentence too light, prosecutors have made an appeal and recently, Chisinau court has accepted it, sentencing the man to 3 years behind bars, with death penalty.
The Court of Appeal's decision can be appealed at the Supreme Court of Justice.
