Moldovan producers participate in Berlin International Fruit Logistics Exhibition
Ten fruit producers of Moldova are participating in an exhibition in Berlin, which is one of the largest and most important fresh food fairs.
Moldovan farmers went to Germany to show the world our apples, grapes, plums.
Vitalie Obrijanu, one of the ten producers gave us a Skype interview. The farmer says he went there with four apple varieties that he grows in his orchard, an area of over 100 hectares.
"We have quality products with competitive price. We're able to export to more countries, including the EU", said Vitalie Obrijanu, farmer.
The producer is sure to return home with several contracts.
"These exhibitions allow us to introduce our products and raise them to international standards as well as to access new destinations where they might become competitive".
Last year's participation in the exhibition contributed to the increase of the export quotas for fruit on the European market, says Iurie Fală, director of Moldova Fruit Association.
"The EU countries have become the second most important market for fresh plums and table grapes," said Iurie Fală, director of the Moldovan Fruit Association.
3000 participants are at the International Fruit Logistics Exhibition. The event will take place until 9 February.
