Moldovans living abroad have sent home in May over 126 million USD. The number is by around 20% more than in a similar period the previous year. Most money, 40%, came from European Union member states.
From CIS countries were transferred around 29% of the money, the number having decreased by 12%. Most Moldovans have received money from Russia. In May, Republic of Moldova's citizens working in said country have transferred home over 35 million USD, around 28% of the total transfers.
Money that came from Irael represents 18%, while from Italy 12%.
The most popular currency was Euro, covering 47% of the total money. A similar amount was transferred in USD. The money transferred in Ruble having decreased to 7.7%.
Since the beginning of the year, over 522 million USD were transferred to the Republic of Moldova, this amount being by 18% bigger then in a similar period the previous year.
