Moldovans will be unable to import meat products from other countries

Moldovans will not be able to bring pork and meat products from the countries affected by swine fever into their luggage. The decision was taken today by the Government. Until now, the restriction was only valid for Ukraine.
Also, those who report cases of abandoned dead boars will receive rewards of 50 Euro. Subsequently, the lye will be burned.
At the same time, wild boars, foxes and jackals have been prolonged until 31 July 2019. The actions are part of a comprehensive plan to combat and prevent the spread of the disease.
"The share of wild boar to be harvested from the forest fund is increased to 450 units and a novelty is that the boar quota is increased in 280 protected areas, which will further diminish the risk of infection on the territory of the Republic of Moldova with African swine fever", said the State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Iurie Uşurelu.
Last week, the government announced that 700 pigs affected of swine fever will be killed. The owners of the animals will be compensated. The sum allocated for this purpose amounts to 1 million and a half lei.
People will be compensated for the weight of the dead animal due to this disease. Now there are 15 outbreaks of swine fever in the country. The virus has severely affected both Romania and Ukraine. The disease was also detected in Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Finland and the Baltic countries.
