More money allocated to buy food for kindergartens. What do chiefs of institutions say
The children from the kindergartens and schools will be fed starting September 1 with healthier food. So, each child will eat a menu worth 29 lei 55 bani, while the ones aged up to seven - 30 lei 55 bani.
Starting September 1, the breakfast of the students in the primary classes will cost 13 lei 65 bani. The sum is two lei higher. The students of the gymnasiums, whose families are poor will benefit of the same menu that costs 11 lei 65 bani. But, the students who suffer of tuberculosis and have a longer schedule will benefit of better food.
The menu of the children will be better.
Kindergarten directors say that the reform is great. Although the amount is not very high, children will be able to receive more fruits and vegetables, meat or seeds.
"We are assured with fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and variety. We have included seeds." We have not had turkey meat for many years now, we have it and it is very good", said Ana Bucsa, director of Kindergarten Nr. 16.
After the reform, parents will pay 1 leu per day more for the children's diet. Those with kindergarten children say they are ready to pay even more, just for the little ones to get healthy snacks:
"It's not so expensive and it's for the baby, it's got to be healthy, like the main one and it's not that expensive."
"The directors need to be more careful about what products are brought to kindergartens. High quality products, more fruits, vegetables".
"For example, I would like fewer pasta and buns to give them. More fruits, vegetables, porridge."
From 2016 until now, the state's contribution to the food budget in kindergartens has increased by almost 6 lei. The quality of the products is in the attention of the authorities.
"We do not always focus on the lowest price, not always the lowest price when it comes to food, the health of our children. We put a price-quality accent," said Valentin Crudu, head of the Pre-university Education Department at the Ministry Education, Culture and Research.
Every day, more than 305 thousand children and pupils are supplied to educational institutions in the country. For the new year of studies, the government has allocated nearly one billion lei for this purpose.
