Farmers will mutually help themselves in crises. A joint fund to insure agriculture-related hazards is likely to be set up in Moldova, as the Agriculture Ministry issues a regulation in this respect to be publicly debated.
The mutual fund will offer support to its members in cases of drought, floods, hail and other natural calamities.
According to the Ministry’s data, in 2016, the frosts affected 6,500 ha of orchards, compromising over 62,000 tonnes of fruit worth over MDL200 mn.
This year’s April heavy snowfall impacted over 25,000 ha of plantations.
