Even if Andrei Năstase voted for, PAS deputy Mihai Popsoi says he voted against Russia's return to APCE following consultations with the Foreign Ministry, Prime Minister Maia Sandu, but also with Ukrainian partners. The statement was made by party vice-president Maia Sandu in an interview for Free Europe.
"I voted against, largely in the light of discussions with the Foreign Ministry. I had consultations with the Foreign Ministry, given the position of the party, I consulted with my colleagues in the party, including the prime minister, I certainly had a lot of suggestions, requests from my colleagues from Ukraine, both at the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau and from the Ukrainian delegation to PACE to support them at this difficult moment, said Mihai Popsooi.
Asked why all those who went to Strasbourg, including Andrei Năstase, a colleague in the political bloc ACUM with Poposoi and Vlad Batrâncea, but also in the ACUM-PSRM alliance, the deputy speaker of Parliament mentioned that:
"In such a sensitive issue it was somewhat difficult to reach a consensus, for, for example, we always said that certain differences would persist. We did not necessarily want to have a consolidated position, each representative of the faction has its own position, each delegate has its own position and, respectively, the vote reflected this. "
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that the Kozak Alliance-PSRM Alliance has helped Moscow to regain its right to vote at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. PPDA deputy Andrei Năstase and socialist Vlad Batrincea voted for this.
