National Contest! Looking for baby wisent name in Pădurea Domneasca
About 2 months ago, a baby wisent was born in the reservation Pădurea Domnească in Moldova's north. The administration announced a national contest to pick a name for the calf, as this represents a rare phenomenon in Moldova.
According to the contest requirements, the name should be beautiful with folk symbols or country initials. Everybody can contribute to the future name and the winner will get a trip to the reservation.
A scientist from the reservation has explained that the contest will last one more week, because the proposed names weren’t relevant.
“The contest is not over, because, unfortunately, there were few and irrelevant names. We still can’t choose a name, because they don’t correspond to our requests, meaning to be representative with folk elements,” said researcher Marian Ţarigradschi.
So far the participants sent such names: RaMbo, Rimu, Remy, MonnDy, MoldMan, Strugurel, Remus, Toreador, Codruţ, Domnesc, Guguță, Arțăraș, Ștefan etc.
Next week, the contest will end, and if the name will be irrelevant the reservation’s administration will choose the name.
“Our European bison is already 9 months and doesn’t have a name, that’s why we will be forced to choose a name, next week,” said Marian Ţarigradschi.
