National Wine Day to take place in Great National Assembly Square on 7th and 8th October
"Păstrăm legenda vie" ("Keep the Legend Alive") will be the slogan of this year's wine day. The event will be held on 7th and 8th October on the Great National Assembly Square, where 47 local wine manufacturers will offer taste test. This year the organizers will accentuate responsible drinking and environment protection.
"We will bring forth the newest products that will hit the markets this year. But of course the main idea will be of responsible drinking, as well as increasing clientele for local manufacturers" Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Vasile Luca declared.
The event will be based on vouchers sold for 150 lei and lasting both days. It will include transportation to and from, as well as a biodegradable cup which guests will be able to use to taste the wine.
"The cups are graded, so when citizens will approach to taste a wine, exactly 75 ml will be offered" director of National Office of Vine and Wine, Gheorghe Arpentin declared.
Moreover, the cups will be resistant to collision and will come with a special accessory allowing it to be worn around the neck so that the hands are free. The organizers will even distribute over 5000 breath testers.
"The breath test will be available at each stand, the service will be provided for free for those who wish to see their blood alcohol levels".
The event will also provide people with booklets where the positive effects of wine will be written, as well as the harm excessive alcohol could cause. The organizers will double the number of bathrooms, rest places and food courts.
"We will build multiple stands offering wine and food. A large variety of wines aromas will be offered for both adults and children for smell. They will be offered the chance of guessing the aromas of either the white or the red wine" Gheorghe Arpentin added.
Participants will also receive a free bottle of water from "Apă-Canal Chişinău". Dozens of local and international volunteers will participate at the event. It will be a fun time, both local and foreign performers will entertain the guests.
The organization of the National Wine Day costed nearly 2.7 million lei. The event is brought to us by the National Office of Vine and Wine, with the support of Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment and various wine manufacturers from Moldova competitiveness project.
