To April 1, 2018 were recovered nearly 1 billion 50 million lei from Banca de Economii, Unibank and Banca Socială. The data was offered by representatives of the National Bank of Moldova, who testified today at the Parliament's Economy Committee.
The Central Bank assured that the financial system is stable and under no risks.
According to data of NBM representatives, to this point were recovered one billion 115 million lei offered to the three financial institutions. The other 176 million lei were recovered after the shares were sold.
"The biggest source is recovering the offered loans. Here were recovered nearly 817 million lei, or 78% of the total" deputy governor of NBM, Cristina Harea explained.
At the moment are open 50 cases with a 33 billion lei damage. Governor of NBM, Sergiu Cioclea, claims that in May or June a final Strategy for shares recovery will be made, based on the Kroll report.
"After two years, Kroll managed to find over 50 million shares from the 600 million, which were official identified as being taken from the three banks, which shows just how complicated the case is. The money were taken to China, Russia, a part remained in Latvia, which were not recovered. There is much left to investigate" governor Sergiu Cioclea said.
Still, the central banks assures that after the legislation was modified, the financial system is stable.
"Today when a loan goes from a bank to the loan committee, the data is registered in our system. By the end of each day, banks give all the information. If there are risks they are immediately identified and reported" Segiu Cioclea explained.
After the bank fraud scandal, NBM is thoroughly supervising all banks.
"We are currently in a stable situation and are using good practices. The fact that we can monitor banks in real time limits their freedom" Segiu Cioclea said.
